Family Literacy Night

On Family Literacy Night we have lots of activities for our students and their families to enjoy together.  This year we had Kathy Adams here from the Marland Mansion sharing stories about E.W. Marland and his family.

The students also took their parents to the computer lab and showed off their knowledge about the internet.  The parents were so impressed!

Shay Harrison demonstrates to her parents her computer knowledge and skills.

Christina Hernandez shares her computer knowledge with her mother, Karen.

.Anita Jefferies learns about the various activities in the computer lab from her granddaughters, Kacie and Keli.

The Art Room was buzzing with reading activities.  The students and parents learned to do many reading activities from print that is in their everyday environment.

Austin Claypool enjoys reading activities from materials in his everyday environment.

A favorite activity among the parents and students was the opportunity to read together and take Accelerated Reader Tests.  Many parents commented "Now I understand the 'AR' process!"

Fifth grader, Chase Hess, reads a story to his grandmother, Susan Albee, so they can take an Accelerated Reader Test together.
