Students were given an opportunity to 10/08/01 Read a great
letter about our band Welcome to our new and powerful search tool, EBSCO. Anyone in our state
can use this new tool, from elementary students just beginning to
read to medical students studying at our state universities. In
fact, anyone in Oklahoma looking for reliable or accurate information
about anything can use
EBSCO. If you would like to examine them
yourself, click here: The "MSA Ultra-school edition" provides full text for nearly 460 general interest and current events magazines. No high school in our state could ever afford to purchase 460 magazines. The "Newspaper Source" provides full text for 159 regional US newspapers, 18 international newspapers, and 6 newswires. Our English and social studies classes will use this every day. With "Health Source: Consumer Edition" database you can search for information on many health topics including the medical sciences, food sciences and nutrition, childcare, sports medicine and general health. We could never hope to keep up with health sciences through books in our libraries, this valuable research tool will keep us up-to-the-minute with new discoveries in science. Our science teachers always assign projects involving genetics and genetic disorders, the students must have up-to-date information. There is a database for middle schools and one for primary schools. The "Funk and Wagnall's New World Encyclopedia" provides over 25,000 encyclopedic entries. "EBSCO Animals" provides in-depth information on a variety of topics relating to animals. The "Professional Development Collection" provides a highly specialized collection of nearly 440 full text journals, designed for professional educators. Many of our students do research on educational topics, and you can easily see what this will do for teachers in our system working on higher degrees. "ERIC" the US Department of Education, Educational Resource Information Center database, contains citations and abstracts from over 980 educational and education-related journals, as well as full text of more than 2,200 digests.
